CHRISTMAS IN THE NORTHWEST 10 – COUNTING DOWN TO THE NOVEMBER 1 OFFICIAL RELEASE Stacie Orrico, Andrea Wittgens, Central Services, Courtney Jones and More
Join the Ranks of Dave Matthews, Harvey Danger, Heart and the Steve Miller Band

SEATTLE – Seattle-based Children’s Music Fund, Inc. announces the November 1 release of Christmas in the Northwest 10, presented by RBC Dain Rauscher, to benefit Northwest children’s hospitals. Christmas in the Northwest 10 features Grammy nominee and Kirkland resident Stacie Orrico.  Discovered at the age of 12, Orrico sold more than 3.4 million albums worldwide by the time she was 18 years old. Orrico’s song, “Blessed in the Northwest” is considered this year’s anthem, incorporating lyrics from the chorus of Brenda White’s 1985 classic song “Christmas in the Northwest”. The previous nine albums and CDs have featured Northwest artists like Dave Matthews Band, Harvey Danger, Heart, Pete Droge, LeRoy Bell, Kenny G and the Steve Miller Band. Christmas in the Northwest 10 also features “I Wanna Be Blake, I Wanna Be Sanjaya” a fun, original tune saluting our Northwest “American Idol” finalists Blake Lewis and Sanjaya Malakar.  The CD also includes an all new arrangement of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” performed in six different languages by first through 4th graders at Cougar Ridge Elementary School in Issaquah. In total, Christmas in the Northwest 10 features 17 Northwest artists including Andrea Wittgens, Mike Strickland with Greta Matassa, Central Services and Stella by Starlight.  Some of the artists included on the CD have their own special connections to a children’s hospital.  Greg Otterholt, a Bellingham resident and former KVOS-TV weatherman spent many years of his early childhood at Seattle’s Children’s Hospital. Net proceeds from the sale of the CDs benefit the following hospitals: Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle; Children’s Miracle Network in Spokane, Wash.; The St. Charles Foundation in Bend, Ore. and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Ore.  Since the release of the first CD in 1985, the total net proceeds that have been provided to children’s hospitals have reached approximately $750,000.
Christmas in the Northwest 10 will be released on November 1st, and will be sold for $13.98.  Retailers include Amazon, Bartell Drugs, Borders Books & Music, Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center gift shops, Fred Meyer, Haggen Food & Pharmacy, IKEA, Made in Washington, Music Millennium, Silver Platters, Top Food & Drug  and at christmasinthenorthwest.com

The concept for Christmas in the Northwest and Children’s Music Fund originated when Steve and Debbie Lawson’s daughter Alex was admitted to Children’s Hospital at the age of two.  They created this project as a way to give back to the hospital that treated her.
